MN Voter Photo ID Passes In Senate Committee
A Republican backed Minnesota constitutional amendment passed in its first Senate committee vote today. The amendment would require a photo ID to vote in a Minnesota election.
Opponents say the requirement is aimed at suppressing votes. People who are poor, elderly or disabled, many who don’t have a photo ID, would face additional hurdles to voting.
Last week, the Senate Local Government and Elections committee heard public testimony on the voter photo ID bill, so Senators took no public input during the today’s hearing before the 8-6 party line vote.
