A proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage is given a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. If such a bill were to pass the Senate and the House, it would go on the November 2012 ballot for voters to decide.

St. Catherine University will host a panel on Food Justice today at 4:30 p.m. Nancy Heitzig, Sr. Amata Miller, Joshua Haringa and others will speak about hunger issues and under-nourishment in the United States. The discussion is presented by the school’s Communications Department and Campus Ministry in collaboration with the Food Fast.

Tonight at 7 p.m., Palestinian high school exchange students Amal Ashour and Gaieah Azem will speak about their lives as residents of the Gaza Strip and as Palestinian residents of Israel. Ashour is currently a student at Wayzata High School, and Azem is a student in the St. Louis Park School System. Both are here for one year on a State Department exchange program.
